The Sayward Volunteer Fire Department is pleased to announce the recent acquisition of a Water Tender (tanker) designated as 'T2'. This vehicle will help with supplying water to firefighting that occurs in the Sayward Valley. The SVFD would like to thank the Strathcona Regional District for providing this vehicle to the department.
A need for this tender had been identified during studies on improving fire protection in the Sayward Valley, due to the lack of fire hydrants.
Folks in the Sayward Valley may also have noticed increased activity around SVFD Hall #2. In addition to the the new tanker, the Strathcona Regional District is installing water cisterns to enhance the use of this new vehicle during firefighting activities.
